How to Become More Confident
As an introvert, you’ve probably heard different variations of “try to be more confident” your entire life.
People are probably always saying things to you like:
- “Stick up for yourself more. Be more assertive.”
- “You just need to get some confidence. Then you’ll be fine.”
- “You’re too meek.”
If you don’t already have a healthy dose of confidence, statements like these can feel a little insensitive.
After all, of course you’d love to be more confident, but it’s not that easy.
Before you can seek confidence, you first must understand what confidence is.
According to eHow.com, the definition of confidence is:
“The knowledge that you can do something and do it well. Confidence comes from firsthand knowledge of the task at hand, knowing your strengths and weaknesses, applying your skills to any situation and adapting quickly as the situation unfolds. People who exude confidence know they have what it takes to master difficult situations, and they are not afraid of failure.”
Now that you know exactly what confidence is, you can begin trying to become a more confident person.
How? Start by seeking to understand your own unique gifts and abilities. Are you a terrific cook, or an awesome bargain shopper? No matter how silly it seems, when you harness your talents and strengths, your confidence levels will soar to new heights.
